Follow up
Email and text follow-up so fewer leads go cold.
A missed-call text-back is an automation that texts a caller you couldn't answer as soon as the call ends, so the lead keeps talking to you instead of calling the next listing. It's one of five follow-up flows Kojo Growth writes and sets up in the email, texting or job software you already pay for: web-lead replies, missed-call text-back, quote follow-up, win-backs and seasonal reminders. You approve every message before it goes live; after that it sends on its own.
- Short messages written in your voice, with your name on them
- Email set up so it stays out of spam, and texting set up so carriers let it through
- Consent wording and opt-out handling on every form and text
- Everything built in your own software, in accounts in your name

Why it matters
The lead you paid for called the next listing while you were under a sink.
Speed to lead is the time between someone reaching out and someone replying. In a trade business it's often hours, because the person who answers the phone is also the person on the job. That gap wastes leads you already paid for through ads, Maps and the website. It shows up later too: quotes nobody chases, and past customers nobody has contacted in years. None of this needs a new hire. It needs a few well-written messages that go out on their own.
- 1
Missed calls go to the next listing
A caller who gets voicemail often hangs up and tries the next business. A text that arrives as soon as the call is missed (“Sorry we missed you, what do you need help with?”) keeps the conversation with you.
- 2
Quotes that go quiet
Many estimates stall because nobody follows up, and the customer books whoever called back. A short sequence of texts and emails after a quote brings back the ones that were about to go elsewhere.
- 3
A customer list nobody uses
Your past customers already trust you. A seasonal reminder or a win-back note is the cheapest job you'll ever book, and a lot of businesses never send one.
An example
What a missed-call text-back looks like
A customer calls after hours and nobody can pick up. A text goes out as soon as the call is missed, the customer replies, the slot is held, and the conversation lands in the job software with the lead source attached.
Text messages · Your Business

What's included
What you get with email & text follow-up.
Everything below is written into the plan before any work starts, and reported on every month.
A reply to every web lead
Every form on your site gets a text and an email back: what happens next, when you'll call, and a way to book. Written in your voice, with your name on it.
Missed-call text-back
A call you can't answer gets a text as soon as it ends, asking what the caller needs. The reply lands with your office, and the lead is logged with its source instead of lost in voicemail.
Quote follow-up sequence
A short series of texts and emails over the days after an estimate goes out: a check-in, an answer to the usual objection, and a last nudge. It stops the moment they book or say no.
Win-backs and seasonal reminders
Past customers hear from you when it matters for your trade: tune-ups before summer, gutters before fall, a note to the customers you haven't seen in a year. Written and scheduled in advance.
The review ask runs through these flows
The review ask after each job belongs to the Reviews & reputation service. Where it's in your plan, it goes out through the same texting and email setup, with a link to your Google review page and never gated or incentivized.
Email that reaches the inbox
We add the email records that keep your mail out of spam (known as SPF, DKIM and DMARC) to your domain, set up a proper sending address, and make sure unsubscribes work.
Consent and carrier registration
Consent language on your forms, opt-out handling on every text, and a record of who agreed to what. US businesses also need a carrier registration (called 10DLC) before they can send texts; you complete it and we tell you exactly what to enter.
Built in your tools
Set up inside the software you already pay for: your job software (it works with tools like Jobber or ServiceTitan), your email platform, your texting tool or your phone system. The accounts stay in your name; we set up and run the flows.
How we do it
How we do it.
Three steps to get going, then the work and a report every month.
- Step 1
Map the leaks
We look at where leads come in, who answers, how long it takes and what happens after a quote. Then we pick the flows that will plug the biggest gaps first and write the plan.
- Every lead path listed
- Speed to lead measured today
- Flows ranked by what they'd save
- Step 2
Write and build
Every message is written in plain English and approved by you before it goes live. Then it's built in your tools, with the email records added to your domain and consent language added to your forms.
- You approve every message before it goes live
- Built in your software, in your name
- Tested with a test lead from start to finish
- Step 3
Switch on and tune
Flows go live one at a time. We watch replies, delivery and opt-outs in the first weeks, adjust timing and wording (with your OK), and add the next flow once the first one is working.
- One flow at a time
- Timing tuned from the replies
- Refreshed on the schedule in your plan
What you get each month
Replies and delivery watched
Delivery rates, reply rates and opt-outs checked each month, and any message that isn't landing or isn't getting answered rewritten for your approval.
A refresh on your plan's schedule
Every flow is reviewed on the schedule in your plan and updated for the season, your current offers and anything that changed in your business.
Campaigns when they're in the plan
Where your plan includes it, one email or text campaign a month to your past customers: a seasonal reminder, a new service, a reason to call.
Counted in your report
Time to first reply, quotes followed up and jobs booked from win-backs, against your day-one numbers, in your monthly report.

Trades where this matters most.
Every trade gets found a little differently. These are the ones where this service tends to do the most.
- HVACNo heat in January means a quick search and a call to the first business that looks trustworthy.
- Garage doorsA stuck door is urgent. The listing that says “open now” with a call button gets the call.
- CleaningFound on Google Maps, kept with follow-up. Weekly and biweekly clients come from showing up and staying in touch.
- PlumbingA burst pipe at 2 a.m. goes to the plumber who looks open, close by and trusted.
Three promises
No surprises, in writing.
The same three promises on every plan, for every client.
The audit is free, no strings
You get the findings and the three fixes either way. If we're not the right fit, the audit is still yours.
You own your accounts
Your domain, content, Google Business Profile, analytics and accounts are always yours and stay in your name. If we part ways, any site we built is handed over or bought out on terms set in writing.
Terms in writing first
The plan, the price and the term are written down before any work starts. Term length depends on the work, and it's always on paper.
FAQ
Straight answers, up front.
What owners ask about email & text follow-up before they start.
What is a missed-call text-back?
An automation that sends a text message to anyone who calls your business and doesn't get an answer, as soon as the call is missed. It usually says you're sorry you missed them and asks what they need, so the conversation continues by text instead of ending at voicemail. It runs in your phone system, texting tool or job software.
What is speed to lead, and why does it matter?
Speed to lead is how long it takes your business to reply after someone reaches out. People often contact more than one business, so a quick reply gives you a better chance of the job. Automatic replies to web leads and a text back as soon as a call is missed shorten that gap without anyone changing how they work.
Is SMS marketing legal in the US?
Yes, with consent. The TCPA is the federal rule: people must agree before you send marketing texts, every text must make it easy to opt out, and you must honor opt-outs straight away. US businesses also need a carrier registration, called 10DLC, before they can send texts. We write the consent language and set up opt-outs; you complete the registration and keep the consent records.
What should I text back after a missed call?
Keep it short, human and useful: say who you are, apologize for missing them, ask what they need, and give them a next step (reply here, or we'll call you back). Don't lead with a sales pitch. We write it in your voice, you approve it, and we adjust the wording based on the replies it gets.
Can you set this up in the software I already use?
Usually, yes. Most job software and phone systems can send a text when a call is missed, and most email and texting tools can run follow-up sequences. We build inside what you already pay for, in your name, and only suggest adding a tool if yours can't do the job. If you don't have one, we help you pick something that fits your trade and set it up in your account.
Do I approve the messages before they go out?
Yes. Every message is written by us and approved by you before it goes live. After that it sends on its own, so nobody has to remember to do it. If you want a message changed later, tell us and we update it, and the new wording goes live only after you've approved it.
How do I win back past customers?
Start with a clean list of everyone you've worked for, grouped by what you did and when. Then send something useful at the right time: a seasonal reminder, a check-up offer, or a plain note that you're around. Past customers already trust you, so these are the cheapest jobs you'll book. We write and schedule it, you approve it, and your software sends it.
